The Colorado-based band, who will be headlining Red Rocks for the second time on Fri June 2nd, along with Jurassic 5 and The California Honeydrops, will also be ramping up for Red Rocks by making a splash across the state – releasing “Motet Mocha” ice cream at Sweet Cow locations, dishing out treats at the Sweet Cow at Stanley Marketplace as part of a benefit for the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts on May 22nd, and singer Lyle Divinsky will be performing the National Anthem at the Rockies game on May 30th.
The Motet began in 1998 in Denver, Colorado, where the band’s then-rotating cast of musicians amassed an enthusiastic and loyal throng of hometown fans. The Motet took their infectious dance parties on the road about four years ago, and their national fan base has been growing exponentially ever since. Today their shows sell out from coast to coast at iconic venues Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Fillmore in San Francisco, Tipitina’s in New Orleans, Brooklyn Bowl, Chicago’s Park West, Portland’s Crystal Ballroom, and Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. A favorite along the festival circuit, The Motet has performed at Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Summer Camp, All Good Music Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Peach Fest and many others.
The Motet are Lyle Divinsky (vocals), Dave Watts (drums), Joey Porter (keyboards), Garrett Sayers (bass), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), Gabriel Mervine (trumpet), and Drew Sayers (saxophone).
Soft-spoken by nature, Roosevelt Collier does his hollering on the steel guitar. Raised in the "sacred steel" tradition of his South Florida gospel church, Roosevelt built his reputation alongside his uncles and cousins in The Lee Boys, known for their spirited, soul-shaking live performances. Seated front and center, Collier leaves an indelible mark on listeners, flooring audiences with his lightning-fast slide work, ensuring ear-to-ear grins.
